At Tencent a customized version of QQ is used for internal communication. It is called RTX. All employees are 'friends' with each other. The whole application is structured in the same way the company is, prety smart. Also when you click on someone a sort of profile with phone #, photo, and location is visible.
When calling someone internally you can just click on the person and the phone will automatically start calling.
They should pro-actively sell this application to other companies, but I think they don't.

QQ seems more heavily used by students in Internet cafes and other transient Internet users. MSN dominants among our programming staff.
